Amino Boost
It all started in 1999 when we had developed an amino acid formulation for humans. We were in the nutritional supplement business then as we are today. There was a minor mistake in the manufacturing of the formula we had approved so we had an extra quantity of the powder which we could not encapsulate. A friend had an 18-year-old gelding which had been a super performance horse and had taken more than one of his daughters to state and national championships in High School Rodeo. But at this time the horse was seemingly burned out and was basically facing retirement.
We offered to experiment with the amino acid powder mixed with the horse’s feed. In 90 days, that horse regained all his winning ways and had a haircoat that could nearly glow in the dark! He went on to win several events, including pole bending, barrel racing and others consistently for another 10 years retiring at around 28 years of age.
Today we now have duplicated that formulation with some tweaking for equine. We have blended the amino acids in a small measure of organic non-GMO alfalfa meal and oats pelletized for ease of delivery and palatability; thus, avoids having to mix powder with sauces or soaking. Our amino acid complex is composed of both essential and non-essential amino acids. Essential amino are those the horse cannot make in its own body so they must come from their feed while non-essential are made in their body. The essential amino acids used include the important levels of three limiting amino acids; Lysine, Methionine and Threonine; plus, the Branch Chain Amino Acids (BCAA), L Leucine, L Isoleucine and L Valine, the building blocks for all life forms.
